Research in Civil Engineering Materials focuses on porous construction materials, particularly cement-based systems. This work examines how materials react to environmental factors, explores the relationship between environmental conditions, material characteristics, and deterioration mechanisms, and assesses real-world material performance. Additional areas of study include sustainable construction materials with low embodied energy, along with innovative techniques for analyzing porous building materials like wood, stone, brick, historical materials, and soils at various moisture levels. The research combines computational modeling with hands-on investigations, ranging from microscopic analysis to large-scale laboratory tests and on-site evaluations.
