Our translation and interpreting research stands out as a key strength, anchored in the globally recognized Centre for Translation and Interpreting Studies in Scotland (CTISS). This hub drives exploration into how language functions in multilingual settings from both social and professional perspectives. Key objectives include examining translation/interpreting processes, analyzing how social communication is built, sharing research findings, and raising awareness about professional practices and training for interpreters and translators. CTISS unites faculty and graduate researchers across three main disciplines: translation studies, interdisciplinary social communication research, and discourse linguistics. Much of the center's work shares a common thread - the conviction that grasping textual approaches (genres, discourses, texts) is fundamental to understanding discourse dynamics in translation and interpreting. Beyond studying core translation and interpreting methods, the Center also investigates comparative text analysis and social communication theory.
