This program enables you to undertake an in-depth research project focused on translation and/or interpreting. You'll join a vibrant research community and collaborate with distinguished experts who participate in joint research initiatives and maintain robust connections with the language services sector and global research networks. We encourage project proposals investigating diverse aspects, including linguistic, social, technological, professional, educational, or ethical dimensions of translation and interpreting as mediating practices. Students will integrate into our department's scholarly community, where faculty and doctoral candidates pursue cutting-edge research in areas like applied linguistics, forensic speech analysis, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, alongside translation and interpreting studies.Your research will be guided by two or three supervisors, tailored to your study's focus. You'll benefit from training opportunities, research resources, and specialized software. Throughout your studies, you'll be supported in participating in training, networking, and knowledge-sharing activities both within and beyond the university. The first year requires a 2,000-word project summary, followed by a 5,000-8,000 word summary in the second year. Your final year will focus on completing your 80,000-100,000 word dissertation.
