The PGCE Secondary Modern Foreign Languages program specializes in French and German or Spanish, providing you with the expertise to teach contemporary languages while highlighting how language acquisition fosters cross-cultural understanding.
From crafting interactive lesson plans to fostering dynamic classroom settings, you'll acquire both subject mastery and teaching techniques to make language studies engaging for students. The program also tackles the difficulties of language instruction and promotes linguistic appreciation in largely single-language communities.
Blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, the PGCE broadens your understanding of modern foreign languages as a core subject for ages 11-16, encompassing speaking, listening, reading, and writing competencies.
Upon completing the PGCE, you'll earn a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Durham University and qualify for QTS recommendation. The QTS component is validated by Newcastle University and conferred by the Department of Education.
