The School of Modern Languages and Cultures provides an excellent environment for postgraduate research. Currently hosting more than 40 research students from the UK, Europe, and worldwide, our scholars pursue PhD and MA projects covering diverse subjects like translation, literature, theater, film, and photography. Students actively participate in various postgraduate events such as dialogue sessions and research seminars. We encourage applications for both PhD studies and MA by Research programs.
Our academic investigations span conventional Modern Languages and Cultures disciplines alongside more unconventional subjects. Distinct from many UK institutions, we specialize in areas from ancient manuscripts to contemporary media, including cinema and photographic arts.
