Our Master of Arts in Research Methods (Anthropology) enhances your expertise in studying human experiences while immersing you in a department dedicated to cultivating future research anthropologists.
The program features three foundational modules covering qualitative and quantitative methods, delivered through the Durham Research Methods Centre. Additional modules can be chosen from a broad selection, enabling you to customize your studies toward specialties like socio-cultural anthropology, medical anthropology, development anthropology, or cultural evolution. Your dissertation further personalizes your academic journey, often serving as preliminary research for potential PhD projects.
As part of one of the UK's most comprehensive anthropology departments, you'll learn in a dynamic environment emphasizing contemporary disciplinary debates, providing numerous opportunities to explore cutting-edge research topics. You'll also benefit from weekly seminars organized by key research centers including the Durham Infancy and Sleep Centre, Behavioural and Ecological Physiology Laboratory, Physical Activity Laboratory, South Africa Field Station, and Material Culture and Skeletal Collections.
