This theme examines research exploring how our multifaceted identities (often called intersectional identities) – encompassing gender, race, ethnicity, class, age, disabilities, and sexual orientations – shape our life experiences, with special attention to educational contexts.
Specifically, we address equality and diversity concerns regarding individuals' educational access, attainment, experiences, and methodologies across formal and informal learning environments worldwide. Our focus includes understanding how identities influence diverse knowledge systems, learning processes, and success metrics in various educational settings. This encompasses both structured academic systems (primary, secondary, and higher education) and alternative learning spaces like community programs, indigenous education initiatives, marginalized groups' learning approaches, and NGO-led educational efforts.
