C-DaRE, the Centre for Dance Research, comprises an international team of researchers and postgraduate scholars located in Coventry University's Institute for Creative Cultures at the Technology Park.
Our interdisciplinary research bridges theory and practice, employing embodied knowledge across various fields. We investigate diverse topics such as cultural heritage, computing and artificial intelligence, intellectual property, practice-based research, performance philosophy, documentation methods, archival studies, health and wellness, digital performance, somatic approaches, and critical disability studies. We foster strong ties with professional practitioners while participating in research networks and policy initiatives that support and advance movement arts, dance, and performing arts.
Collaborating extensively with cultural sector partners, our projects have received funding from multiple sources including UK Research Councils, the European Commission, Leverhulme and Wellcome Trusts, British Academy, British Council, Higher Education Academy, and Arts Council England.
