The Food Policy PhD/MPhil program examines food's societal role and its effects on health, environment, social justice, and economics within our active research community at the Centre for Food Policy. You can customize your Food Policy research degree to align with your specific interests. As part of the School of Health & Psychological Sciences, we offer comprehensive support and training to ensure your success. Located in our Centre for Food Policy, you'll join an energetic research community. Investigate how policy-making functions and how it both reflects and influences food systems and consumption patterns. Our researchers particularly focus on food's policy position in society and its consequences for health, environment, social equity, and economics. The MPhil/PhD program equips you with professional research skills, enabling you to produce original work that advances current knowledge and impacts food policy. Duration options: Full-time: 2-4 years; Part-time: 4 years

Qualification Requirements

You should normally have a track record of high academic achievement, demonstrated by a good undergraduate degree with at least a second class (upper division) pass or equivalent; plus a good Masters-level degree with at least a pass with merit (or equivalent). If your first language is not English, the following qualifications are necessary to meet the English language requirement for entry to a postgraduate course of study: A first degree from a UK university or from the CNAA; A first degree from an overseas institution recognised by City as providing adequate evidence of proficiency in the English language, for example, from institutions in Australia, Canada or the USA; GCE O-level/GCSE English language or English literature, grade C minimum; An overall score of 6.5 in the English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum of 6.0 for each subtest; Other evidence of proficiency in the English language which satisfies the board of studies concerned. TOEFL: We require a well-balanced overall score of at least 100 and no less than 25 in the Writing section.
