Our scientific investigations span diverse areas of biology, from studying neuronal development to uncovering the molecular foundations of diseases like cancer, as well as examining the growth processes in animals and plants. We also conduct genetic studies on threatened species such as orangutans, elephants, and pandas. World-leading scientists direct these research initiatives, utilizing cutting-edge technological resources. Our standing in the scientific community is evidenced by the substantial research grants we secure each year and our frequent publications in prestigious international journals. We actively foster cross-disciplinary partnerships on both national and global scales. According to the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), we hold the 13th position in the UK, with 60% of our work recognized for its exceptional influence and wide-reaching importance.
