Internationally recognized for its research, our Faculty of Natural Sciences investigates the connections between human activity, technology, and the environment. We provide PhD programs guided by experienced faculty members, with research students playing a vital role in our accomplishments. Biology PhD candidates will become part of a dynamic research community focused on uncovering the core mechanisms behind biodiversity evolution and preservation across all scales, from molecular to ecosystem levels. Our research examines environmental and ecosystem transformations across various timescales to forecast and address the effects of human-induced changes and natural phenomena. We regularly secure significant funding from prestigious organizations including the Natural Environment Research Council, Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, Leverhulme Trust, charitable foundations, and corporate partners.
A PhD in Biology with placement opportunities is also offered.
