You'll pursue an independent biological sciences research project spanning two years (MPhil) or three years (PhD), guided by our world-class researchers. Your work will evolve through engagement in research seminars, workshops, lab work, field studies, and collaboration with our established research teams. We're actively contributing to significant research programs, including: SEACAMS (Sustainable Expansion of the Applied Coastal and Marine Sectors) - enhancing Wales' commercial marine sector through university-business research partnerships; the Algal Biotechnology for Wales Knowledge Transfer Centre - offering expert guidance on microalgal technologies and industry-driven research; EnAlgae - working to decrease CO2 emissions and reliance on non-renewable energy in North-West Europe; Ecojel - addressing both the potential benefits and challenges posed by jellyfish in the Irish Sea; LRCI Marine (Low Carbon Research Institute) - a consortium of Wales' premier marine research institutions supporting sustainable marine development; and the WISE initiative (Welsh Institutes for Sustainable Environments) - helping industries minimize environmental impacts of their products and operations.
