This program is offered through the School of Engineering in partnership with the School of Physics and Astronomy and the Institute for Compound Semiconductors (ICS), drawing upon the collective knowledge and strengths of these disciplines.
The ICS represents a one-of-a-kind facility in the UK, striving to establish itself as an international center for compound semiconductor research, development, and innovation. The Institute collaborates with industry leaders like IQE plc, SPTS, and Newport Wafer Fab, leveraging Cardiff University's existing expertise to bridge academic research with practical industrial applications.
Our adaptable program structure incorporates current advancements and employs proven educational methodologies. The curriculum features a comprehensive selection of modules, including advanced optional courses for specialized study.
Students will complete a three-month summer project, which may be conducted within the School of Engineering, at the ICS, or through an industrial placement. Our extensive network of industry partnerships provides access to theoretical, practical, and applied projects across academic and corporate settings.
Graduates will acquire the specialized training, technical skills, and practical experience necessary to excel in the fast-paced compound semiconductor industry.
