Our MPhil Electronic Systems Engineering research and supervision focuses on several key areas: networking for audio and video, multimedia systems and applications, data communications, RF engineering, radio and radar technologies, electromagnetics, signal propagation, video processing, and computer vision. We collaborate across disciplines, combining the knowledge of electronic engineers, computer scientists, mathematicians, physicists, and psychologists.
As one of the UK's largest and most well-equipped schools, we benefit from advanced networked computing resources, specialized software, and comprehensive testing instrumentation. Our research spans diverse fields—from semiconductor physics and computational theory to artificial intelligence, robotics, and computer gaming—with many groups operating in state-of-the-art laboratories. Annually securing multimillion-pound funding, we engage in EU programs and collaborate with government and industry partners.
Joining our School allows both recent graduates and experienced engineers to develop new expertise or refine existing skills. Alumni have advanced to leadership roles across industries and academia. Notable employers of our graduates include Electronic Data Systems, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, Bank of Mexico, Visa International, Hyperknowledge (Cambridge), Hellenic Air Force, ICSS (Beijing), United Microelectronic Corporation (Taiwan), Alcatel Submarine, BT Group, QinetiQ, Dolby Laboratories, Fujitsu, Royal Air Forces, as well as our University and Imperial College London.
