Biomedical science forms the foundation of medicine and healthcare research. Our Biomedical Sciences program allows you to explore diverse subjects such as human anatomy and physiology, disease mechanisms and treatments, biochemistry, genetics, and microbiology. The curriculum draws from cutting-edge biomedical research conducted at the School of Biosciences and University Hospital of Wales, providing training in modern fields like cancer biology, stem cell research, tissue engineering, gene therapy, and neurodegenerative disorders. This program emphasizes flexibility, letting you customize your academic journey. You can maintain the general BSc Biomedical Sciences path or specialize by choosing alternative bioscience tracks. More focused degree options include BSc Biomedical Sciences (Anatomy) or BSc Biomedical Sciences (Physiology), with your final designation determined by your module selections. Academic advisors will help navigate these choices, including the potential transition to our four-year MBiomed integrated master's program, ideal for research-oriented careers. A distinctive feature includes a third-year placement in research laboratories (academic, clinical, or industrial) or approved institutions. This immersive experience provides valuable professional research exposure, significantly boosting both your academic credentials and career opportunities after graduation.
AAB-ABB. Must include Biology or Chemistry. You will need to pass the science practical element of the A-level if this is part of your programme of study.
Extended/International Project Qualification: Applicants with grade A in the EPQ/IPQ will typically receive an offer one grade lower than the standard offer.
34-32 overall or 666-665 in 3 HL subjects. Must include grade 6 in HL Biology or Chemistry.
At least 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each subskill.
At least 90 overall with a minimum of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading, and 20 for speaking.
