Develop comprehensive understanding of human physiology in both healthy and diseased states. Our specialized labs will teach you disease diagnosis and treatment methods. You'll examine the worldwide impact of infectious diseases and international efforts to manage this persistent challenge.

After completing your first year, you may opt to continue with broad biomedical studies for a BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science degree. Alternatively, you can pursue a specialized combined degree through one of our focused pathways:

Medical Biochemistry Pathway
Investigate biochemical processes in the human body and methods for diagnosing biochemical disorders.
Medical Microbiology Pathway
Examine infectious disease pathogens and their attack strategies while learning diagnostic procedures and treatment options. Study the global prevalence of infectious diseases and international control measures addressing this complex issue.
Pharmacological Sciences Pathway
Explore therapeutic drug applications and their physiological impacts while deepening your knowledge of pharmacological theories guiding pharmaceutical development.

Qualification Requirements

UCAS Tariff Points: 120 points required. (Minimum 80 from two A Levels or equivalent, excluding General Studies. A minimum of 40 points at A Level or equivalent must be from a Biological Science or Applied Science. If you are studying Biology to meet this requirement you must also achieve a `Pass' in the practical assessment, where that practical assessment is separated (from 2017).

International baccalaureate - 120 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 3 Highers of which at least 2 must be grade H5 or above and to have at least 40 points in a biological science.

IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification
TOEFL iBT- Total of 79 to 89 Minimum for Reading (18), Listening (17), Speaking (20) and Writing (17)
