Health psychology examines how psychological, biological, and social/environmental factors influence health behaviors and outcomes. Professionals in this field work to enhance wellness by studying how health-related cognitions, emotions, and actions affect individuals.
Modern healthcare approaches are transitioning from disease treatment to health preservation and illness prevention. The Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act (2015) strives to enhance national well-being across social, economic, environmental, and cultural domains. This focus is especially crucial for Wales, which faces demographic challenges with an aging population and higher rates of chronic disease compared to other UK regions (Public Health Wales Observatory, 2018).

This Health Psychology Master's program cultivates skilled professionals equipped to enhance public health through specialized psychological expertise. The curriculum emphasizes career readiness, offering student-focused preparation for advanced training or diverse health-related professions. While some graduates pursue certification as health psychologists, others enter fields like health education, workplace wellness, research, or entrepreneurship.
