Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing global industries, driven by significant computational progress and abundant data resources. Emerging generative AI technologies have introduced transformative systems capable of producing original content including visuals, multimedia, and written material. This evolution demands parallel advancements in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). With AI becoming ubiquitous across diverse fields, professionals who combine technical AI expertise with human-focused HCI design principles are in growing demand. Microsoft's latest research identifies AI, UX Design, and Cloud Computing as three of the most sought-after skills across sectors - core components of Brunel's MSc Human-AI Interaction program. Students will acquire in-depth knowledge of cutting-edge AI and HCI principles while developing practical abilities to create future-oriented, human-centered AI applications. The curriculum covers intelligent systems, human-AI interfaces, user-centered design, experience optimization, data representation, interactive AI development, and ethical considerations. Participants will also enhance transferable skills including academic research, career readiness, and collaborative competencies through group projects, industry expert sessions, and thesis work. By working with professional tools (like Figma and Axure RP), key programming languages (including Python), and AI development frameworks, students will be equipped to design meaningful human-AI solutions. For those needing programming fundamentals, an optional Python primer is offered. Students can also earn supplementary certifications in major Cloud platforms (such as Microsoft Azure), gaining valuable industry qualifications. Combining departmental excellence with the program's dual focus on AI and human-centered design, graduates emerge uniquely prepared to develop intuitive, practical AI systems that address genuine market needs. Career opportunities for alumni span AI Engineering, Conversational AI Design, AI Product Leadership, Generative AI Specialization, Business Analysis, UX Research, Interface Design, Product Development, and Service Design. The Computer Science Department facilitates industry connections through its annual 'Made in Brunel (Software Innovation)' showcase event.
