Our MPhil/PhD programs are designed to guide students in becoming autonomous academic researchers, equipped to communicate their findings effectively through both spoken and written channels while advancing knowledge in their field. This independence is cultivated through rigorous scholarship encompassing innovative thinking, proper citation practices, methodological rigor, and transparent reporting standards - all core values we strive to instill in our candidates.
The MPhil/PhD represents an advanced research degree demanding original investigation and submission of a comprehensive dissertation. MPhil theses have a maximum length of 60,000 words, while PhD dissertations cannot exceed 100,000 words. For practice-based research projects, thesis requirements are tailored to the specific nature of the work and can be clarified with admissions tutors. Both degrees culminate in a viva voce (oral examination) assessment.
