Our MPhil/PhD program in Film and Screen Media encourages applicants to propose research exploring the evolution, historical context, and interconnectedness of film, television, and digital screen platforms.

The MPhil/PhD represents an advanced research degree demanding original scholarly work culminating in a significant written dissertation. MPhil candidates submit a maximum of 60,000 words, while PhD dissertations cannot exceed 100,000 words. The program additionally supports practice-based doctoral research, with specific requirements tailored to each project's focus - prospective students should consult with admissions tutors regarding these variations. Final evaluation for both degrees occurs through an oral defense examination.
