This Master's program in Zoology with a focus on Primatology is an extended undergraduate course that offers the option to graduate with either a BSc (Hons) after three years or a Master's degree upon completing the fourth year. Primates—including apes, monkeys, tarsiers, lemurs, and lorises—are confronting severe threats of extinction due to their specialized biology and ecology, often inhabiting regions highly susceptible to habitat destruction. As our closest animal relatives, they offer unique insights into human evolutionary history. The program provides comprehensive zoological education while emphasizing advanced primate studies. Students will explore animal diversity, evolution, behavior, ecology, anatomy, physiology, and development. Specialized modules will deepen your understanding of primates and equip you with practical research and conservation skills. The curriculum covers both evolutionary history and contemporary primate adaptations, while also preparing you to address pressing conservation issues. You'll gain hands-on experience through laboratory work and field studies, both locally and internationally, along with essential scientific skills like data analysis, technical writing, and communication. An optional Primatology Field Course allows for direct observation of primates in their natural environments, such as Uganda's Kibale National Park. Opportunities for a Placement Year or International Experience Year are also available.
