Environmental protection has become a global priority for governments worldwide, creating demand for skilled zoologists who understand both animal science and conservation challenges. Our Zoology with Conservation MZool program is an extended undergraduate course offering either a BSc (Hons) after three years or a Master's degree upon completing the fourth year. Students meeting academic standards after Year 2 can progress to the Master's level following Year 3. The final year features an extensive research project in laboratory or field settings. The curriculum covers fundamental zoological concepts like taxonomy, morphology, and physiology while emphasizing animal ecology, biodiversity, and evolutionary studies. Conservation-focused modules explore environmental protection strategies and implementation methods. This program bridges academic study with practical conservation work through partnerships with environmental organizations. You'll develop both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills in zoology and conservation, along with valuable transferable abilities for conservation careers. Our location adjacent to Snowdonia National Park provides unparalleled access to diverse ecosystems for fieldwork, which forms a core component of studies. Bangor hosts major conservation organizations including Natural Resources Wales and RSPB regional offices, maintaining strong university connections that enhance our teaching. Placement and International Experience Years available.
