This three-year BSc program centers avian studies as its core focus. Birds serve as important model organisms in zoological research and are increasingly critical for conservation efforts due to significant population declines across numerous species. The scientific community urgently requires professionals with specialized avian expertise. Our Zoology with Ornithology degree equips students for scientific careers by blending classical zoology with concentrated studies in bird biology and biodiversity, while incorporating conservation principles and management techniques. The curriculum offers comprehensive zoological education with particular attention to theoretical and practical animal studies, complemented by specialized ornithological training. Students can participate in field studies throughout North Wales and international ornithological expeditions. The program develops diverse laboratory and fieldwork competencies, both domestically and internationally, alongside transferable scientific skills including data interpretation, scientific communication, technological proficiency, and collaborative research experience. Course offerings span general zoology modules for vertebrate and invertebrate studies, plus specialized ornithology coursework. Optional Placement Year and International Experience Year available.
