This Zoology with Animal Behaviour program is an extended undergraduate course that lets you earn either a BSc (Hons) after three years or a Master's degree upon completing the fourth year. The final year provides a distinctive chance to undertake an in-depth research project, whether in laboratory settings or field environments. Zoology, as a biological science discipline, examines all aspects of animal life. It encompasses diverse subjects such as behavioral patterns, physical structures, biological functions, growth processes, environmental interactions, evolutionary changes, and classification systems. The scientific curiosity about animal conduct has given rise to ethology, a specialized zoological field dedicated to behavioral studies. This degree program combines conventional zoological education with a behavioral focus, exploring how creatures interact with each other and their surroundings, particularly examining the underlying mechanisms, purposes, developmental aspects, and evolutionary origins of behavior. Students receive comprehensive zoological instruction encompassing both theoretical and practical dimensions of animal biology. A key feature involves gaining hands-on experience through laboratory sessions and field courses, while developing valuable competencies in data interpretation, collaborative projects, presentation techniques, and digital literacy. Beyond accessing modern animal biology facilities, learners benefit from nearby diverse ecosystems - including terrestrial, marine, and freshwater environments - that serve as living laboratories. The university boasts an extensive Zoology Museum collection and participates in the Environment Centre Wales, a collaborative initiative with Bangor University and the Natural Environment Research Council's Centre for Ecology & Hydrology. Additional resources include specialized aquaria for marine and freshwater species, along with dedicated facilities for avian, mammalian, and reptile studies. Students may opt for a Placement Year or International Experience Year.
