This program allows you to explore History while simultaneously learning a language (Chinese, French, German, or Spanish, available at beginner or advanced levels). You'll enhance both written and verbal communication abilities while gaining insights into cultural aspects, including national histories. The curriculum offers diverse historical topics spanning from medieval to modern eras. This combined History and Languages degree provides comprehensive knowledge of various nations across different historical contexts, developing versatile skills valued by employers.
Every language course incorporates writing skills (such as translation and essay composition) and speaking practice led by native instructors.
Modern Languages electives offer opportunities to explore the cinema, literature, history, and culture of your chosen language's country. The History modules complement these language studies perfectly, allowing you to examine diverse historical periods, regions, and themes. You can select courses concentrating on Welsh, British, and European history, as well as other global areas.
Beyond academics, numerous extracurricular activities enhance your learning experience and foster connections with peers. Student-led societies organize cultural and social events within academic departments. Pontio - Bangor University's Arts and Innovation Center - hosts various theatrical productions, films, and performances just minutes from your classroom locations.
