Aston University has built its global standing as a research-focused business school largely through groundbreaking studies from the Work and Organisation department during the 1960s and 70s, specializing in Work Psychology - especially in organizational frameworks, workplace environments, and productivity. These research efforts persisted into the 21st century, shifting emphasis toward team dynamics and collaborative processes.
We honor this legacy while advancing our internationally recognized expertise to conduct impactful, cross-disciplinary research that fosters innovative concepts and champions principled, diverse leadership. This collective effort is organized under the Work and Organisation Research Group, which includes all WON faculty members. Current investigations examine the concept of open organizations - entities that prioritize extensive collaboration in their operations to achieve superior decision-making and breakthrough innovations. Practical applications are demonstrated through our case studies.
