Our research program (MPhil/PhD) enables you to conduct thorough, critical investigations in workplace studies, employment relations, HR management, and organizational behavior with guidance from specialist advisors.

The MPhil/PhD curriculum requires creating significant original research within your selected discipline. Differing from structured degree programs, this qualification emphasizes independent investigation and novel contributions to academic knowledge. Initial coursework develops sophisticated research capabilities for collecting, interpreting, and presenting both numerical and qualitative data. Our faculty provides supervision across diverse research domains, including:

Workplace equality and inclusion - examining various inequalities, in-work poverty, compensation distribution, and gender/ethnicity pay disparities.
Workplace governance systems - studying ethical business practices, professional conduct, organizational representation, and employment conflicts.
Employment quality and standards - analyzing work hours, technological impacts, work-life integration, professional development, and labor rights including contemporary slavery issues.
Environmental sustainability - investigating eco-friendly employment, public service structures, privatization effects across essential services, and climate policy implications.
Occupational health - focusing on pandemic workplace safety, psychological wellbeing, and stress management in professional environments.
