Our BA (Hons) Music and Sound Production program grants access to professional-grade recording, mixing, editing, and production equipment, offering practical experience essential for working as a professional producer or sound engineer.

While deepening your knowledge of digital audio theory, MIDI, and sound synthesis, you'll progress beyond standard DAW mixers and plugins to explore higher-end external processors, including DSP-based plugins and analog outboard gear. Studying at ARU Cambridge means sharing modules with other music programs, fostering collaboration with diverse peers and cultivating crucial professional skills like teamwork and time management. You'll also have chances to collaborate with film and game design students, producing soundtracks for their projects.

The Music Business option enhances entrepreneurial skills for today's music industry, taught by experienced professionals with guest speakers sharing specialized knowledge. Electronics for Music covers circuit analysis, amplifier design, and addresses noise/interference challenges, equipping you to assess, select, and test audio equipment for creative applications.

Qualification Requirements

96 UCAS Tariff points from minimum of 2 A Levels (or equivalent), preferably to include Music, Music Technology or a related subject.
3 GCSEs at grade C, or grade 4, or above.
If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.0 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
You may also be accepted to this course with an IELTS 5.5 (Academic level- with no individual score being lower than 5.5) or equivalent English Language qualification as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University, but will then be required to undertake additional compulsory free English language modules in your first year.
UCAS Tariff points acquired from BTEC Level 3 Diplomas in a related subject are accepted.
UCAS Tariff points from Access to HE Diplomas are accepted.
International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum of 24 points is accepted, related subjects are preferred.
UCAS Tariff points from Scottish Advanced Highers are accepted, related subjects are required.
UCAS Tariff points from Scottish Highers are accepted, related subjects are required.
