For more than 100 years, Aberystwyth's Welsh Department has served as a globally recognized hub for academic study. Its team of eight faculty members possesses comprehensive knowledge across all eras and aspects of Welsh literature, language, and Celtic Studies. We provide guidance and academic oversight for postgraduate researchers (MPhil or PhD) and encourage applications from highly qualified individuals.
Our Welsh Department is located in the Parry-Williams Building, adjacent to the University's Hugh Owen Library which houses exceptional Welsh and Celtic resources. Nearby stands the National Library of Wales, among Britain's select copyright libraries. Its extensive manuscript and archival collections represent invaluable assets for scholars of Welsh studies.
