This MRes program, along with the Latin American Studies MRes and Film Studies MRes, offers a customized pathway into advanced research. You'll grow as an independent scholar while developing an original research project with mentorship from experts in modern languages and cultures.
Specialization options include Basque studies, Catalan studies, Chinese studies, French studies, German studies, Hispanic studies, Italian studies, Portuguese studies, sociolinguistics, Spanish studies, and translation studies. Your degree title will correspond to your chosen specialization.

The curriculum features research methodology training specifically designed for language and cultural studies, adapted to your research proposal, along with thorough exposure to current scholarship in your chosen discipline. Under the supervision of active researchers from the Department of Languages, Culture and Film, you'll learn to formulate research proposals, locate relevant sources, design and execute research plans, and effectively analyze and present your findings.
