This primary bicultural teacher training program prepares graduates to teach in primary, intermediate, bilingual, and/or Māori-medium schools (based on their te reo Māori proficiency). While fluency in te reo Māori isn't required for applicants, they should demonstrate passion for working with children, dedication to learning, and a willingness to deepen their understanding of te ao and te reo Māori. The curriculum covers teaching methodologies, subject content, educational principles, New Zealand Curriculum standards, and hands-on classroom experience. It also incorporates Māori worldview components and builds te reo Māori skills, equipping graduates to teach through a Māori cultural framework.
