The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a one-year postgraduate program focused solely on research. This degree allows you to enhance your research skills by specializing in a specific field, guided by AUT's experienced faculty. It serves as a stepping stone toward doctoral studies. Explore social sciences and public policy while building essential skills for impactful careers that contribute to positive global change. Through our engaging courses, you'll easily connect with peers and may partner with community groups or businesses for project work or professional placements.
Must have completed one of the following with the equivalent of a B grade average or higher:
Four-year bachelor’s degree OR
Bachelor’s honours degree OR
Bachelor’s degree and a postgraduate diploma OR
Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience relevant to the proposed programme of research
An interview may be required for particular research areas.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher; or equivalent; TOEFL iBT score of 90; Certificate in English for Academic Study (CertEAS) with A grade; AUT Academic English with B+ grade; CAE minimum overall score of 176; PTE minimum overall score of 58.
