As a counsellor, you'll assist individuals in managing emotions, gaining self-awareness, making choices, and transforming their lives. The Counselling major equips you to support diverse clients professionally.

You'll explore counselling's historical foundations, theoretical frameworks, and relationship-based approaches. AUT's programme features 200 practical counselling hours, bicultural education, marae experiences, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi understanding. Ideal candidates possess life experience through personal development courses (such as Youthline), counselling exposure, volunteer roles, peer support, or related work.

Applications for this major close on 1 November 2024. Early submissions will receive priority evaluation. By studying health sciences at AUT, New Zealand's premier health education institution, you'll acquire skills to address evolving global healthcare demands.

With our aging, expanding population, there's growing demand for passionate healthcare professionals. AUT collaborates with health boards and organizations to design its health sciences degree, offering both specialized clinical and non-clinical career pathways.

You'll be taught by field experts committed to your success, ensuring thorough preparation for any health sector role you pursue.
