UL allows you to explore before committing. This program serves as an ideal foundation for those pursuing graduate medical school or careers in Bioscience/Life Sciences.
The Pharmaceutical & Industrial Chemistry degree prepares graduates for professional roles across pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, biomedical, and chemical industries. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, equipping students with the skills needed for these dynamic fields. You'll study core principles and applications of organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry, along with computational chemistry and chemical engineering components.
During your third year, you'll complete an eight-month paid work placement (Cooperative Education) with a leading pharmaceutical or chemical company. The program holds accreditation from both the Institute of Chemistry of Ireland and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), with graduates qualifying for RSC Chartered Chemist designation.

Minimum grades - Applicants are required to hold at the time of enrolment the established Leaving Certificate (or an approved equivalent) with a minimum of six subjects which must include: Two H5 (Higher Level) grades and Four O6 (Ordinary Level) grades or four H7 (Higher Level) grades. Subjects must include Mathematics, Irish or another language, and English.
Subject requirements - In addition, applicants must hold a minimum grade O3/H7 in Mathematics and a Grade H4 in any one of the following: Agricultural Science, Applied Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Physics with Chemistry.
IELTS - Minimum score of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any component.
TOEFL- (paper based) - 580.
TOEFL- (internet based) - 90.
