If you have a passion for exploring different cultures and languages, you might be considering continuing your German studies from school or starting fresh as a beginner. You may also recognize the career advantages of mastering EU languages, especially German, particularly after the UK's departure from the European Union. As one of the EU's primary languages and the most widely spoken native tongue among its citizens, German holds significant value.
Our program has a proven history of equipping students with advanced language abilities and deep cultural understanding of German-speaking European nations, providing insights into broader European traditions. Students often grow passionate about their studies, thanks to opportunities like internships with leading companies in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, or ERASMUS exchanges at our partner universities. Our German-taught classes employ modern teaching techniques and cutting-edge technology, supplemented by one-on-one sessions with native speakers, discussion groups, film nights, and guest lectures. Our teaching is enriched by research in language acquisition and German Studies (covering topics like GDR history, crime fiction, and intercultural studies). We host Europe's sole Centre for Irish-German Studies and contribute to interdisciplinary research through various academic centers.
