The University of Galway's MSc in Human Resource Management (HRM) is a one-year, professionally accredited program that combines academic research with practical application. This innovative course moves beyond conventional teaching methods by exploring contemporary HRM topics like sustainability, organizational change, employment dynamics, ethical practices, and data analytics. The curriculum emphasizes principles of fair employment, personal leadership development, and cultivating essential professional skills including analytical reasoning and talent management capabilities.
Students can customize their learning experience by choosing between two specialized tracks: an Internship route or Consultancy option. This flexible structure enables participants to align their postgraduate studies with individual career goals and professional interests, creating a personalized educational journey.

Graduates have secured positions across diverse HR specializations, progressing to leadership roles in areas such as talent recruitment, HR operations, strategic business partnerships, compensation systems, employee training programs, and specialized fields like pension management. Normally a H2.1 degree (NFQ Level 8 or equivalent) in business or a related discipline. However, candidates with a H2.2 honours degree and who have a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience will also be considered. IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent, if applicable.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Our MSc HRM recognises prior learning and acknowledges that learners’ knowledge and skills can be acquired through various learning experiences. Thus, applicants who hold a Second-class honours, (2.2) degree and possess at least two years of relevant work experience will also be considered. Our RPL approach to eligibility encourages broader accessibility. English Language Requirements
IELTS: 6.5 overall, no less than 5.5 in any one component; Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE): 176 overall; Cambridge C2 Advanced (CPE): 180 overall; TOEFL: 88 overall (7 Listening, 16 Speaking, 18 Writing, 8 Reading); Pearson PTE: 61 overall, no less than 48 in any one component.
