The Master of Surgery (MCh) program aims to advance both the academic growth and professional expertise of surgical trainees while prioritizing patient safety. Aligned with the Basic Surgical Training (BST) curriculum, this course equips participants with essential research capabilities and scientific knowledge required for advancement into higher surgical training programs and academic surgical careers.
MCh candidates engage in dynamic, hands-on learning experiences, including the development of surgical simulations using advanced technology. This blend of clinical training and research opportunities makes the program particularly valuable for those pursuing Higher Surgical Training (HST) or related medical fields. Postgraduate research qualifications are increasingly essential for surgeons seeking progression in their specialty training.
Career Prospects
Alumni will demonstrate evidence-based approaches to surgical practice and research. Enhanced clinical knowledge, technical abilities, and professional competencies bring transformative improvements to patient care for those undergoing surgical interventions.
Successful candidates will hold a primary degree in Medicine and be conferred with the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and Bachelor of Obstetrics. They should also be selected for the Basic Surgical Training Programme (BST) national programme. Candidates not on the BST programme may be eligible and will be interviewed.
