The HDipPsych (Full) is a comprehensive two-year, full-time course designed for graduates holding advanced degrees in non-Psychology disciplines who seek to transition into Psychology careers. This program delivers curriculum content matching the University of Galway's BSc Psychology degree.
Recognized by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), the HDipPsych (Full) meets all PSI criteria for graduate psychology status. Successful completion qualifies students for admission to professional postgraduate programs across Ireland and the UK.
Career Pathways
This qualification serves as a strong foundation for advanced studies and diverse career options. Graduates become eligible for specialized training in professional psychology fields (such as clinical, counseling, or occupational psychology) or can pursue academic research opportunities (including Psychology PhD programs).
The programme is intended for graduates with at least a Second Class Honours level in any field other than Psychology. Places are awarded on the basis of academic merit. The two-year HDipPsych (Full) is not intended for graduates who have the BA (Joint Honours) with Psychological Studies from University of Galway (or its equivalent as deemed by the College of Arts). This is intended to be completed by the one-year full-time HDip in Psychology (Conversion).
