The Physics with Astronomy and Space Science program focuses on utilizing core Physics principles to interpret cosmic phenomena observed through both terrestrial and space-based technologies. This is fundamentally a Physics degree that includes specialized modules on practical applications, while enhancing your abilities in analytical thinking, data interpretation, computational methods, and laboratory techniques.
This specialization is one of several options within the Physics track of the shared-entry Science program.
During their first year, students follow a common curriculum across all Physics track specializations. In the second year, they explore modules from at least two related disciplines. Students finalize their major specialization after completing their second year. Provided they fulfill all academic requirements in the initial two years, students are assured placement in one of their second-year track specializations. Every effort is made to accommodate students' preferred specialization choices. With multiple related options available within each track, students can select from several comparable specializations for their major. Below is an example curriculum that a Physics with Astronomy & Space Science student might encounter during their studies at UCD.
