This program combines language acquisition with foundational teacher training to equip you for a career as a language educator in Irish secondary schools. You'll have the option to specialize in two modern languages (French, Spanish, German, or Italian) and/or Irish (Gaeilge), or focus solely on Irish as your major. The curriculum includes language development modules that enhance your fluency while exploring cultural and literary aspects through critical analysis of important texts. As you advance, you'll cultivate teaching expertise through coursework in educational foundations (covering history, sociology, psychology, and philosophy of education, along with curriculum design) and professional development (including communication techniques, digital education, and research methods), complemented by practical teaching experience in both primary and secondary schools. A central focus of the program is preparing you to work effectively with diverse student populations and educational professionals, highlighting the school as a collaborative learning environment.
