UCC's Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing, Process & Automation Systems) program addresses the global need for skilled mechanical engineering professionals in manufacturing and process industries. Graduates of this program will gain the ability to:
demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of contemporary manufacturing methods, automation technologies, and production systems,
select optimal manufacturing solutions for various production needs and evaluate their effectiveness,
utilize appropriate technologies, quality methods, and manufacturing approaches to design, optimize, and enhance engineering production systems,
organize, conduct, and supervise experimental work and research initiatives, while effectively analyzing data and communicating findings,
collaborate efficiently in diverse teams, exhibit self-direction, independent work capabilities, and leadership qualities.
Candidates must have a minimum Second Class Honours Grade II in a primary honours degree (NFQ, Level 8) in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline that should have covered mechanical engineering fundamentals such as mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and materials.
