A full-time, one-year master's program (NFQ level 9) delivered by University College Cork's Department of Archaeology. This course offers comprehensive training in museum operations, including design, administration, and educational programming, while prompting students to critically examine these institutions' modern-day significance. Ideal for aspiring museum professionals or heritage center staff worldwide, as well as those considering doctoral studies in museology. The curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with practical skills, catering to students from diverse academic backgrounds, particularly archaeology, history, and related humanities or social science fields.
Second Class Honours Grade II in a primary honours degree (NFQ, Level 8) from a recognized third-level institution, in one of the following disciplines: Archaeology, Anthropology, Folklore, History, Heritage Studies or Local Studies.
Applications will also be considered under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) from graduates in other disciplines who have a demonstrable interest and/or experience in museum work. All applicants will be interviewed.
