The LLB program at University College Cork (UCC) provides a specialized postgraduate law qualification tailored for both Law and non-Law graduates.
Pathway for Law Graduates - For those holding an existing law degree, our LLB enables you to broaden your legal expertise across diverse fields, preparing you for specialized practice or advanced studies. This intensive one-year full-time program features a flexible selection of modules, allowing you to customize your studies according to your interests. Notably, it provides access to specialized legal areas like medical law, environmental law, or human rights law that may not have been covered during undergraduate studies.
Pathway for Non-Law Graduates
Graduates from other disciplines can pursue this two-year postgraduate law degree, which delivers comprehensive core and elective law modules to qualify for professional legal training upon completion. The program ensures students gain robust legal knowledge and critical analytical skills through two years of full-time study.
In addition to legal career preparation, the LLB also equips students for diverse professional paths including business, media, public sector roles, and human rights advocacy.
Candidates must be approved by the School of Law and must normally hold a Second Class Honours in a primary honours degree (NFQ, Level 8).
Applicants meeting the initial entry requirements and who have a Second Class Honours in a primary honours Law degree (NFQ, Level 8) or have equivalent professional qualification/s and experience in law, as determined by the School of Law, should apply for the 60 credit route.
