The PhD in Structured Population and Health Services Research Education is an inter-institutional graduate program focused on enhancing healthcare outcomes through improved service management and delivery within Ireland's health system. The initiative cultivates a community of doctoral researchers who will demonstrate excellence in conducting studies, assessing policies, and implementing evidence-based practices. This multidisciplinary program emphasizes rigorous, diverse methodologies and fosters collaboration.
Students enrolled at UCC must adhere to both standard university PhD requirements and these additional program-specific regulations, which apply exclusively to participants in this structured PhD program.
Supported by the Health Research Board (HRB), the program is delivered through a partnership between UCC, TCD, and RCSI. It includes various elements to assist students in completing their doctoral research and thesis. Participants gain access to Ireland's leading health services researchers and have opportunities for both domestic and international research placements. An academic and professional Steering Group and Advisory Committee oversee program development to maintain its relevance and effectiveness.
