The UCC Diploma in Dental Nursing was created to address the requirements of Ireland's dental professionals while establishing uniform training standards for dental nurses. This program emerged from a collaborative effort between Cork University Dental School and Hospital and Dublin Dental University Hospital.

Graduates of this program become eligible for inclusion on the Dental Council of Ireland's Voluntary Register for Dental Nurses.

This program focuses on equipping students with hands-on competencies backed by academic foundations, fostering comprehension of a dental nurse's duties and accountabilities within the dental healthcare team.

Qualification Requirements

All candidates are required to submit a personal statement with their application. Decisions on entry will be made on the basis of this statement for candidates who meet the Leaving Cert or mature requirements as set out below. Candidates for the part-time programme must be currently employed as a trainee Dental Nurse in a Dental Practice at the time of application. Candidates for the full-time programme may be invited to attend for an interview. Leaving Certificate Entry Requirements O6/H7 in at least five subjects in the Leaving Certificate. IELTS - Minimum overall score of 6.5 and minimum of 6.0 in each band. TOEFL iBT - Minimum overall score of 90 and minimum of 20 in each section
