Our Science Education degree combines scientific studies with pedagogical training across four years, culminating in full teaching qualifications. UCC's Science Education program follows a concurrent training model, integrating science and education throughout the curriculum. Upon completion, graduates earn certification to teach two specialized science subjects at Leaving Certificate level. UCC boasts exceptional resources for science teacher preparation, including our cutting-edge Eureka Centre for Inquiry-Based Education within the Kane (Science) Building. This facility features two advanced science education labs, a dedicated resource center, and a conference space with modern video-conferencing capabilities. Our program benefits from expert faculty across all scientific disciplines and superior laboratory infrastructure. During teaching placements, students receive guidance from seasoned science educators and school-based mentor teachers.
