Science and math educators strive to cultivate students' comprehension of their environment while preparing the next wave of researchers, innovators, and tech specialists, along with fostering scientifically and mathematically informed citizens.
Over four years, you'll establish core competencies in education fundamentals, mathematics, and either physics or chemistry, honing critical mathematical reasoning abilities and scientific methodologies. The curriculum also explores educational history, psychology, sociology, and philosophy alongside specialized subject studies.
Acquiring hands-on professional experience
The program includes a minimum of 24 weeks in secondary school placements, plus an optional 12-week paid industry internship through the STEM Teacher Internship initiative. You'll enhance digital proficiency to effectively teach in various settings, from traditional classrooms to hybrid learning environments.
Upon finishing this accredited program, you'll be certified to instruct mathematics and physics or chemistry up to Leaving Certificate level. Our alumni are recognized for their innovation, expertise, and dedication, making them highly desirable in secondary education. Graduates opting out of teaching can leverage their STEM background for careers in technical education or science communication.
