Students in International Peace Studies engage in a multidisciplinary, innovative program exploring the roots and impacts of warfare and violent disputes, while developing strategies for lasting peace. Instructors incorporate insights from diverse fields including political theory, global affairs, moral philosophy, social sciences, justice studies, and dispute mediation.
Curriculum highlights encompass: The Dynamics of Peace and Warfare, Analytical Approaches, Refugee Studies, Post-Conflict Reconstruction, Cross-Cultural Mediation Techniques, Global Justice Systems, International Organizations in Dispute Settlement, Gender Perspectives in Conflict Zones, and a Practical Placement Component.
This program offers hands-on experience through partnerships with peacekeeping organizations, featuring study visits to Belfast and UN Geneva, along with regular talks by seasoned international mediators and humanitarian professionals.
Applicants should normally have an honors degree at second class level or GPA 3.2 or above. Students not meeting these criteria may exceptionally be considered at the discretion of the Dean of Graduate Studies.
