The School of Chemistry is a dynamic hub comprising 22 faculty members, around 50 postdoctoral researchers, and more than 100 graduate research students, securing over £5 million in annual research funding. This financial support fuels investigations across three key areas: Inorganic and Synthetic Materials Chemistry, Organic, Medicinal and Biological Chemistry, and Physical, Computational and Materials Chemistry.
Current groundbreaking research within the School includes creating and analyzing innovative inorganic materials like nanomaterials and supramolecular structures, pharmaceutical design, pioneering synthetic techniques, biomimetic catalysis, light-based chemistry and medicine, electrochemical studies, surface science, and advancing computational modeling techniques. These varied research endeavors benefit from the School's collaborative partnerships with several prestigious research institutes.
Postgraduate work in Trinity College Dublin is very academically challenging and as a result the University has high academic entry requirements. Applicants will need to hold at least a 2.1 honors degree from an Irish university or equivalent result from a university in another country; a fluent command of the English language. Display a high level of competence in the English language in one of the examination systems recognised by Trinity College Dublin.
