Our specialized PhD program in Chemistry focusing on BioNano Interactions operates under the guidance of the Centre for BioNano Interactions, led by Director Professor Kenneth Dawson. This four-year initiative blends hands-on laboratory research with 30 credits of structured coursework. The curriculum draws from a selection of contemporary modules covering genomics, proteomics, cytometry, and advanced imaging techniques, provided by the Conway Institute and complementary Science and Engineering departments. The program drives innovation in applying bionanointeractions to critical areas including nanosafety, nanobiology, and nanomedicine.

Qualification Requirements

The entry requirements for postgraduate research programmes at UCD School of Chemistry are:

Minimum of 2:1H result in BSc (Hons) degree in Chemistry, or equivalent, IELTS An average score of 6.5 over all components and a minimum of 6.0 in each band on the Academic Version.
TOEFL IBT - iBT 90 no less than 21 in writing and at least 19 in every other section in the Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL.




Toefl A minimum score of 90 is required in the Internet based TOEFL (iBT) with no less than 21 in writing and at least 19 in every other section.
